Hundreds of thousands of people died in the earthquake. More than that were severely injured. Millions are displaced. The United Methodist church has been on the ground in relief efforts from day one. In fact we lost one of our local mission organizers in the quake.
Our church worked with United Methodist Volunteers in Mission. They are part of our connectional system which is working closely with the Methodist church in Haiti to identify needs in local communities. Mission teams are invited to help the locals rebuild homes and reconstruct churches or church related agencies (i.e. orphanages, clinics).
Above picture taken by Matt Lacey, who recently returned from an UMVIM mission trip to Port au Prince.
