SUNDAY SCHOOL FOR CHILDREN IN K-2ND GRADE

Meets at the 9:00 and 10:30am in the Chapel. Age level classes rotate to a different station (classroom) each week. A schedule of stations is posted in the bulletin and on magnetic boards located on the first floor near the Noah’s Corner reception desk and on the second floor outside Room 250. There are 10 stations in the rotation, however, they vary with individual units.

From Sunday, December 4th through Sunday, December 18th, we'll be studying Good News!

CREATION STATION—ART STATION

Meets in the Arts-n-Crafts room on the second floor. Children move beyond the busy work of construction paper to art appreciation and the utilization of art as a learning tool for studying Bible stories.

ROLLING PIN—COOKING STATION

Meets in Room 141. This workshop uses food and the preparation of it as another way of learning traditions and cultures of our Bible history, as well as, making a connection to a particular story.

TECHNOLOGY TRAIN—COMPUTER STATION

Meets in Room 145. Students use the computer to enhance the Bible stories by creating scripts, writing stories or cards or even drawing in a paint program. The real excitement begins with the use of Sunday School Software, a program designed specifically around the Bible and for use with children.

RACE TO GRACE—GAME STATION

Meets in the gymnasium. Using lively large motor skill games or quiet interactive board games can make learning the Bible tons of fun in this station.

MOVIN’ ‘N’ GROOVIN’—MUSIC STATION

Meets in the gymnasium. This station is loaded with a variety of musical instruments from here or around the world and allows the children to experience how music can make the heart dance and movement is the soul at play.

PUPPET PALACE—PUPPET STATION

Using a variety of puppets to re-create the Bible story allows opportunities for the children to hear it told over and over again.

DISCOVERY DEPOT—SCIENCE STATION

Meets in Room 146. Through the wonder of experiments and exploration of God’s world, the mystery and awesomeness of God can be revealed.

DRAMA QUEENS AND KINGS—STORY AND DRAMA STATION

Meets in Room 241. Using costumes, props, even sets the story comes alive for the children. They can write their own scripts or read from the Bible as they bring their talents and energy to the stage.

PATHWAY TO THE STARS—VIDEO STATION

Meets in Room 144. The feel of a real movie theater, fully equipped with popcorn and surround sound, makes seeing and discussing the Bible story loads of fun!

MISSION POSSIBLE—MISSION STATION

Meets in Room 251. There is no better way to connect our Bible learning to our everyday life than to focus on ways to serve others. This station helps bring the lesson home to the heart.

The purpose of the United Methodist Church

“The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

Dunwoody United Methodist Church

Mission Statement and Commitment to Children

created by the Children’s Council

As people of faith and members of the United Methodist Church, we partner together with one another to fulfill the mission of the United Methodist Church and the commitment we make at each child’s baptism.

Together, we recognize the children in our midst as part of Christ’s body and this United Methodist community of faith.

We follow Jesus’ example as we strive to welcome them, bless them, teach them, love and nurture them. We will listen to them, learn from them, care for them and pray for them. We will take time to be in relationship with them and to create a place where they have a sense of belonging, acceptance and self-worth.

We will reach out beyond the borders of this church into the community and around the world to meet the needs of all children.

While creating this spirit of welcome and excitement for our children and their families, we do all these things for their sake and in the name of Christ.
