Club 45

What is it and why do we have it? Club 45 is a ministry for preteens in 4th and 5th grades. It is designed to meet the changing needs of this group of youth who often hunger for something different from younger children, but they are not developmentally ready for Youth Ministries. Club 45 helps to bridge the gap that preteens feel as they transition from their elementary to teenage years, by using a format similar to youth programs, but with subject matter and activities that address their age appropriate needs and issues. In order to best meet those needs, Club 45 is designed as a holistic ministry, including Sunday school, Preteen Youth Fellowship and Special Events, providing youth a place to experience their faith and their church community in a fuller, deeper and more meaningful way.

CLUB 45 SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday school for preteens in grades 4 and 5 is at 9:00am and 10:30am each Sunday morning, except for designated holidays.  Lessons are taught in 4 week units, with classes rotating to a new unit every 4 weeks.  Topics for the upcoming school year include: Photos of Faith: Looking for God in the Everyday, The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Movie Unit on Understanding the Differences in Others, Hey God, Let’s Talk: A Unit on Prayer, United We Stand: Dealing with Friends and Peer Pressure.

The purpose of the United Methodist Church

“The mission of the church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

Dunwoody United Methodist Church

Mission Statement and Commitment to Children

created by the Children’s Council

As people of faith and members of the United Methodist Church, we partner together with one another to fulfill the mission of the United Methodist Church and the commitment we make at each child’s baptism.

Together, we recognize the children in our midst as part of Christ’s body and this United Methodist community of faith.

We follow Jesus’ example as we strive to welcome them, bless them, teach them, love and nurture them. We will listen to them, learn from them, care for them and pray for them. We will take time to be in relationship with them and to create a place where they have a sense of belonging, acceptance and self-worth.

We will reach out beyond the borders of this church into the community and around the world to meet the needs of all children.

While creating this spirit of welcome and excitement for our children and their families, we do all these things for their sake and in the name of Christ.
